DWRT-Boston is a Boston-based running team and a chapter of the Dashing Whippets Running Team in NYC. Since launching in 2015, the Boston chapter has forged a closely-knit community of runners of varying abilities, united by our enjoyment of competitive running and our belief that camaraderie and teamwork enhance the running experience and drive our best performances. Drawing on the larger Dashing Whippets organization, the Boston chapter offers the intimacy of a small team with the resources of a large running club. DWRT thrives on the diversity of its team members and maintains low annual dues to maximize inclusivity. We are excited to expand our presence in Boston and continue to welcome new members.
As we resume a more normal slate of activities, we’re now hosting a Thursday evening track workout in addition to our Saturday morning long run (check out Meetup for full details and updates):
- Saturday Morning Long Run in Boston at 7:30/8:00 AM: We’ll typically have routes of 3-5 miles and 8-12 miles. Paces / pace groups typically range from 7 – 9 minute miles (though we welcome all paces). Routes wander from Somerville to Cambridge and across Boston to keep it interesting. In 2020, we began alternating start locations between Clemente Field by Fenway and Brewers Fountain on the Boston Common, see our Meetup page for details.
- Thursday Evening Track Workout (Short Intervals) in Cambridge at 6:45 PM: We meet at the MIT Outdoor Track (Steinbrenner Stadium) in Cambridge for shorter interval type workouts on the track. These workouts are customized for individual race training plans.
Pending demand and host availability, we hope to bring back road workouts on Tuesday mornings soon:
- Tuesday Morning Speed Workout (Long Intervals and Tempos) in Cambridge at 6:30 AM: Location TBD, we meet at the MIT Outdoor Track or by the Museum of Science at the corner of Edwin H Land Boulevard and Charles River Dam Road for longer intervals and tempo workouts, typically off the track and around the river. Get your day off to a great start.
