Board of Directors

Daniela Alvarado:
Daniela joined the Dashing Whippets in 2012 seeking the camaraderie of a fun but focused training group, and has been attending and leading runs mostly around Central Park since then. Daniela grew up in Miami, Florida and graduated with a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and a B.A. from Brown University. Daniela is a real estate attorney at a large law firm in New York City, where she resides.

Megan Duncan Smith:
Megan joined DWRT-Boston in November 2015. She grew up running on the dirt roads, hillside fields, and mountain trails of north-western Massachusetts. Megan ran for Amherst College as an undergraduate and was the captain of her Cross Country team during her senior year. She is currently working on her PhD in the history department at Harvard. She ran the NYC Marathon in 2009, but has only just recently started competing in road races again in 2017. Megan is passionate about strong coffee, mint-chip ice cream, and the power of teammates to make us each stronger, faster, and happier.

Adam Forkner:
Adam co-founded the Boston chapter with David in 2015. Adam grew up in Milton and attended Trinity College, where he was captain of the cross country team and teammate of DWRT co-founder Matt Wong. He received his J.D. from Boston University School of Law and worked as a lawyer and advisor for the Deval Patrick administration. He has also served as a volunteer assistant track coach at the Epiphany School in Dorchester.  While most of his racing experience is in shorter distances (28:06 8K XC, 35:38 10K), Adam is excited about a foray into the half and full marathons. He lives in the Back Bay with his wife and two sons.

James Kraemer:
James has been running with the Boston Whippets since their inception in the fall of 2015. He picked up running later in life, inspired by a Dashing Whippet from NY who convinced him to sign up for his first race. He has since been bitten by the running bug and loves running and training with the Boston Whippets. James recently completed his first marathon, finishing the 2017 Providence Marathon in 3:36. James is a postdoctoral fellow in Biology at MIT, and has a bachelor’s from Brown University and a PhD from UCSF. When not running, he can be found moving small amounts of liquid around the lab.

Jonathan Park:
Jonathan Park joined the Dashing Whippets in August 2014 so he could become faster than his dog, Monty. Now he’s too fast and has to leave Monty home during workouts. He attended Vassar College and Fordham Law School and is now a litigator. Jonathan lives in Park Slope, Brooklyn, with his wife, Alia, who won’t let him hang his race medals on the wall.

David Parkinson:
David was a member of the DWRT leadership team in New York and relocated to Boston in September of 2015. An attorney, he is also a RRCA-certified coach and has run 18 marathons, including 6 Boston Marathons.

Matthew Wong:
Matt co-founded the NYC chapter of the Dashing Whippets in May 2009. Matt grew up in Connecticut and graduated with a BA in Economics at Trinity College in Hartford, CT in 2000 and an MPA from the University of Connecticut in 2006. Matt has been running since joining his high school cross country team his sophomore year. He then had an admittedly mediocre cross country and track career at Trinity. Since being with the team, Matt has completed 3 marathons with a 2:57:24 PR at the 2013 Boston Marathon and many other races, including a 4:48 mile at the 2015 Fifth Avenue Mile and a 1:18:40 half marathon in the 2016 NYC Half Marathon. Matt lives in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn with his wife and twin daughters.
